BREAKING: Kelsey Plum’s Big Announcement Draws Two-Word Reaction From Steph Curry

Sports

Kelsey Plum will be one of the players to watch when the WNBA opens next month as she gets a fresh start with the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Sparks acquired Plum in a three-team trade with the Las Vegas Aces and the Seattle Storm. She will team up with Dearica Hamby, Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson as they try to carry the Sparks out of the cellar. The team finished with a league-worst 8-32 record last season.

With the arrival of the 30-year-plum, Sparks coach Lynne Roberts proclaimed that “it’s going to be a winning season.”

But aside from Los Angeles, Plum is also tasked to lead an entirely different group—a much younger one.

On Instagram, she announced the amateur players invited to the latest edition of her Dawg Class, a basketball camp formed by Plum in partnership with Under Armour.

Azzi Fudd and KK Arnold of the University of Connecticut, Tessa Johnson of South Carolina, Georgia Amoore of Kentucky and Mikayla Blakes of Vanderbilt are just some of the fast-rising stars invited to the Dawg Class.

“Dawg Class 2025, I’m so excited about this group. Let’s get it!” wrote the Sparks playmaker on Instagram.

Her post elicited comments from fellow ballers, including Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

“So dope,” said the two-time NBA MVP.

Curry has always been supportive of Plum’s milestones, including the success of her cigar brand.

Plum started the basketball camp in 2023, stating that she wanted to help young players transition from the collegiate ranks to the WNBA because she had trouble doing so.

The two-time champion had a legendary career at Washington, where she became the all-time leading scorer of the women’s NCAA before being surpassed by Iowa star Caitlin Clark.

Plum was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick by the now-defunct San Antonio Stars in 2017.
